28th CITF-2020 kicks off Thursday

The 28th Chattogram International Trade Fair (CITF)-2020 will begin in the port city on Thursday (March 5) with a view to creating opportunities for expansion of businesses of the small and medium entrepreneurs.

Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) is going to organise the month-long mega event, second largest International Trade Fair in the country after Dhaka, at Railway Polo-ground in the city like previous years, reports BSS.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will inaugurate the month-long fair as the chief guest while Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, local Lawmaker and former President of the CCCI MA Latif and President of Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries

Sheikh Fazle Fahim will attend the function as special guests.

President of Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI) Mahabubul Alam disclosed it at a press conference here this noon.

Marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a total of 2,340 square feet stall will keep as Bangabandhu Corner on the fair ground, Mahbubul Alam said.

Mela Committee Chairman Sayed Jamal Ahmed said over 470 participants from home and abroad would put their products on display at 20 premier gold pavilions, 33 premier pavilions, 115 gold pavilions, 28 mega stalls and eight food stalls at the fair venue.

The CCCI President said some of the leading industrial enterprises at home and abroad including Thailand and India will take part in the fair for the 10th time along with some other countries.

The CCCI has been organising the fair since 1993 and it got a wide range of publicity by the Bangladesh missions abroad, foreign missions in Bangladesh and different trade bodies and trade-based websites.

All preparations including structural development of the fair venue under an attractive layout plan have been completed to make the fair a total success, sources said. On the other hand, a number of high profile trade and investment delegations from India and Thailand are scheduled to visit the fair for exploring trade and investment prospects, the source added. The fair will remain open for visitors from 10 am to 10 pm every day.
