28 deaths, 1,354 new cases in 24 hours

Bangladesh registered 28 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Sunday taking the death toll to 12,376.

The country recorded 1,354 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 789,080, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday. 

The number of fatalities has declined while the number of newly infected has increased compared to a day earlier. 

The death rate now stands at 1.57 percent in the country, added the release.

The current positivity rate stands at 8.90 percent. The total positivity rate is 13.56 percent.

Among the 28 deceased 20 were men and eight were women. Of them, 27 died in different hospitals across the country while one died at home. 

10 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka division, seven from Chattogram, five from Sylhet, three from Barishal, two from Rangpur and one from Mymensingh division.

A total of 15,205 samples were tested across the country till 8am Sunday. 

At least 899 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 730,697 and the recovery rate is 92.60 percent.

As of Sunday, 3,469,436 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 167,070,918 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
