Despite repeated countrywide hartals and blockade programmes, there is hardly any impact except for torching private and public vehicles by the BNP-Jamaat terrorists.

Transport movement in the city areas appear to be quite normal while movement of inter district busses were becoming normal day by day.

Most people who happen to ignore such violence by BNP-Jamaat miscreants are witnessing huge traffic jams in most of the areas of the capital Dhaka on a routine basis.

This correspondent also witnessed significant movement of all types of vehicles flocking on the streets while travelling from Savar to city’s Tejgaon area on Tuesday noon.

Almost all offices remained open ignoring the hartal (general strike) convened by the right wing BNP and its key ally Jamaat.

Meanwhile, Fire Service and Civil Defence on Tuesday said BNP-Jamaat supporters carried out at least nine incidents of arson attacks between Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon.

So far, 272 vehicles have been set on fire during the blockades and hartals since October 28, according to the Fire Service sources. The vehicles include 169 buses, 45 trucks, 23 covered vans, 8 motorcycles, and 27 other modes of transportation, it said.

Meanwhile, in the latest development BNP-Jamaat caders set fire to a bus in Dhaka's Gulistan on Tuesday morning.

Hartal supporters torched a bus of Bahon Paribahan at around 10:00am. Two fire vehicles doused the blaze.

BNP-Jamaat men also set fire to a lorry in Bhogra Jajar area of Gazipur Sadar upazila Tuesday morning.

One hundred fifty-two platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh and 422 patrol teams of the Rapid Action Battalion have been deployed across Bangladesh to maintain law and order during the BNP’s 11th blockade.

BGB Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam on Tuesday morning said 18 of the platoons were deployed in Dhaka and its surrounding districts.

Meanwhile, 130 RAB teams were dispatched to the capital, RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin said.

RAB said its patrol teams are escorting passenger and goods transports as well as long-distance vehicles in different parts of the country to ensure security.

Apart from this, RAB detectives have continued surveillance in disguise at important places including bus stands and railway stations, to prevent any sabotage and violence
