Teknaf Samity Chattogram has given scholarships to 26 meritorious and underprivileged students of Teknaf.
In a ceremony organized at Chattogram Press Club's Bangabandhu Hall on Friday evening, 26 students studying at the undergraduate level were given one-time scholarship money and goodwill mementos.
Chattogram University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shireen Akhtar was the chief guest on the occasion. The main discussant was National Board of Revenue member and fiction writer Syed Mohammad Abu Daud (Badal Syed).
Teknaf Samity President Mukhtar Ahmad gave a welcome speech on the occasion and Acting General Secretary of the Association Rafiq Ullah. Paediatrician Professor Dr. AKM Rezaul Karim, Dean of Faculty of Engineering of Chattogram University and Convener of Scholarship Management Committee Professor Dr. Rashed Mostafa, Professor of Chattogram University Dr. Amir Hossai spoke.
The event was moderated by Secretary of Scholarship Management Committee Ali Prayas and prominent businessman Sirajul Monowar, senior lawyer Rafiqul Alam, politician and social worker Saifuddin Khaled, Regional Executive Officer of Chattogram City Corporation Rezaul Karim, Special guest CVASU Treasurer Dr Md Kamal, CVASU Deputy Director Khalilur Rahman were also present in the event.
Imtiaz Ahmed, a student of Dhaka University, Anwar Hossain and Tanzia Sultana Saika of Chattogram University responded among the scholarship recipients. A documentary is shown at the beginning of the show.
Speaking as the chief guest, CU VC said that scholarships can change a student's life. Can motivate students. Scholarships, no matter the amount, can turn a student's life around. He thanked Teknaf Samity Chattogram for providing the scholarship.
Writer Badal Syed said that there may be many obstacles in the life of education, if someone stands by him, those obstacles will be removed instantly. With various examples, he said, if there is interest and concentration, it is possible to reach the top of improvement even from ordinary institutions. He said to the scholarship students, you dream, stick to your dreams, you will achieve success.
