26,000 farmers to get agri-incentives in Habiganj

The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) will distribute seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentives among the flood affected 26,000 farmers in seven upazilas of the district.

Crops of the 31,765 hectares of land in seven upazilas of the district have been damaged and a total of 106891 farmers have suffered direct losses due to recent flood.

The government is distributing fertilizers and seeds to encourage the farmers to grow new crops.

Lawmaker of Habiganj-3 Constituency Advocate Md. Abu Zahir inaugurated the distribution function among the farmers as the chief guest, held in Habiganj Sadar Upazila Parishad Auditorium this afternoon with Habiganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Najratun Naeem in the chair.

One thousand farmers were given seeds and fertilizers today. Each farmer was given 5kgs of Aman seeds and 20kgs of fertilizers.

Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Md Motachhirul Islam, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Yashin Arafat Rana, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Sukant Dhar, Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Mortuza, Sadar Upazila Awami League President and Union Parishad (UP) Chairman MA Motalib, General Secretary Abdur Rahman, among others, were present on the occasion.

The chief guest said that the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, provides various benefits to the farmers throughout the year and the government is distributing fertilizers and seeds across the country free of cost.

Rest of the farmers will get seeds and fertilizers very soon.
