25 Covid deaths in 24 hrs

Bangladesh registered 25 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Sunday taking the death toll to 12,149. 

The death rate now stands at 1.56 percent in the country, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday. 

The country recorded 363 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,80,159, added the release. 

The current positivity rate stands at 6.69 percent which is the lowest in 64 days. The last lowest positivity rate was recorded at 6.26 percent on March 13. The total positivity rate stands at 13.67 percent. 

However, the number of fatalities and newly infected has increased compared to a day earlier. 

Among the 25 deceased, 18 were men, and seven were women. 24 died in different hospitals across the country while one at home.

13 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka Division, 11 from Chattogram, and one from Barishal.

A total of 5,430 samples were tested across the country till 8am Sunday. 

At least 601 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,22,036 and the recovery rate at 92.55 percent.  

As of Sunday, 3,384,845 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 163,219,391 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
