Bangladesh has registered 245 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Monday, taking the total number of deaths to 22,897.
The country recorded 11,463 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of infected people to 1,365,158, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.
The country has been witnessing more than 200 deaths every day for the last 16 days. On July 7, the death toll crossed 200 for the first time. 201 people died on that day.
The death rate now stands at 1.68 percent in the country, added the release.
The current positivity rate stands at 24.28 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.72 percent.
Among the 245 deceased, 128 were men, and 117 were women. Of the victims, 234 died in different hospitals across the country while 11 died at home. 83 of the deceased were from Dhaka division, 71 from Chattogram, 25 from Khulna, 19 from Rangpur, 18 from Sylhet and 13 from Mymensingh, 10 from Rajshahi and six were from Barisal division.
A total of 47,207 samples were tested across the country till 8am Monday.
During this period 14,412 Covid-19 patients have been recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,219,859 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 89.36 percent.
As of Monday, 4,310,970 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 203,601,641 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
