24 gamblers held in Manikganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-4) arrested 24 gamblers in separate raids in Betila Bazar Sadar upazila and Charigram Majhipara in Singair upazila of Manikganj district on Wednesday. They also recovered 12 sets playing cards, 23 Mobile sets and Tk 1,30,300 during the operations.

Senior ASP and Company Commander in Crime prevention Company 3 of RAB-4, Unu Mong said acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive at 3.20 pm on Wednesday at Majhipara area in Singair upazila of Manikganj district and caught 11 gamblers red handed while they were gambling.

The arrestees are –Abul Hossain, 50, Forhad Hossain, 30, Mozibur Rahman,50, Montu Bepary, 36, Gowrango Rajbongshi, 33, Year Ali, 35, Abdul Haliim, 35, Md. Sujon,34, Kanchon, 35, Nirmol Sarkar, 38, and

Ranjit Rajbongshi are the residence of nearby in Singair. They recovered 6 sets playing cards, 10 Mobile sets and Tk 76,510 from the spot..

Besides, in another oparetion of RAB personnel, conducted a drive at 10.40 pm on Tuesday night at Betila Bazar area and caught 13 gamblers red handed while they were gambling.

The arreste are- Md. Sentu Mia, 52, Samsul Hoque, 48, Hasmot Ali, 52, Hozrot Ali, 50, Saifur Rahman, 45, Mojibur Molla, 55, Kazi Shohidul Islam, 50, Ful Khan, 50, Amiruzzaman, 50, Nur Islam, 45,  Hanif Dewan,47, Ataur Rahman,47, and Nil Chan Mia, 40, are the inhabitant of Betia-Mitora union area.

The team recovered 6 sets playing cards, 13 Mobile sets and Tk 53,890 from the spot, stated the CO.

During the preliminary interrogation, the detainees admitted that they were professional gamblers and involved in various criminal activities, RAB sources said.
