23 tonnes of Hilsa exported to India

Twenty three tonnes of Hilsa was exported to India through Benapole Land Port on Wednesday. This consignment of fish was exported ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja. Benapole Land Port received the fishes at Wednesday afternoon. Customs official along with Benapole Fisheries Department after examining the quality of fishes cleared those for shipping.

Southern Food Ltd and Union Venter Ltd exported these fishes Where JK International and Siddheswary Enterprise of Kolkata will import these.

These Hilsha fishes weight from 1 to 1.5 kilograms. 1 kilogram of Hilsha fishes are sold at international market for 6 US dollar per kilo where 1.5 kilograms of fishes are sold 10 US dollar per kilo.

Government has given permit to 52 business organisations in the country to export 2, 080 tonnes of Hilsha fishes to India. Each of the organisation can export up to 40 tonnes of fishes. 

The export window will be open till October 10th.

Benapole Fishing Department Officer md Ishtadul Haque said that Hilsha export through Benapole Land Port has started from Wednesday ahead of Dugra Puja celebration in India. These fishes weight between 1-1.5 kilograms. Export of 2, 080 kilograms of Hilsha will be completed before October 10th, he added.

Joint Commissioner of beanpole Customs Nusrat Jahan said that instruction has been given to other officials to make the export process faster in order to tackle the export pressure of fragile products and food items.
