Police in Chandpur have detained 22 youths on suspicion of involvement in juvenile delinquency.
Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Bahar Mia confirmed the news on Tuesday morning.
According to him, a drive was conducted on Monday evening from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM at several key locations in Chandpur Sadar, including Chhayabani Mor, Mission Road Junction, Langta Bari CNG Station, Hasan Ali Field, and Kalibari Platform. A total of 22 teenagers were detained during the operation on suspicion of being involved in juvenile offenses.
Following verification, 21 of the detainees were released into the custody of their guardians after undergoing counseling and signing written undertakings. One individual remains in police custody. The police said that operations against juvenile crime will continue. Earlier, on 13 July, police had detained 32 youths in similar operations conducted during the day and night in different parts of the city. They were also counseled and later released to their guardians.
