Bangladesh registered 210 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Wednesday, taking the death toll to 17,052.
Earlier on July, 11, 230 people died in the country, which is the highest number of deaths recorded in the span of a single day since March 8, when the first case of coronavirus was detected. On July 7, the death toll crossed 200 for the first time. 201 people died on that day.
The country recorded 12,383 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 10,59,538 according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.
The death rate now stands at 1.61 percent in the country, added the release.
The current positivity rate stands at 29.14 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.92 percent.
Among the 210 deceased, 131 were men, and 79 were women. Of the victims, 197 died in different hospitals across the country and 13 died at home.
59 of the deceased were from the Dhaka division, 46 from Khulna, 39 from Chattogram, 15 from Rajshahi, 14 from Rangpur,10 from Barisal, nine from Sylhet and eight from Mymensingh division.
A total of 42,490 samples were tested across the country till 8am Wednesday.
During this period 8,242 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 8,97,412 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 84.70 percent.
As of Wednesday, 4,067,199 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 188,696,349 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
