A total of 200 senior citizens received monthly allowances at the initiative of ‘New Era Foundation', a non-governmental development organisation at Charmirkamari in Salimpur union of Ishwardi and Titiya center in Duaria union of Lalpur in Pabna on Tuesday noon.
Manjur Rahman Biswas, Executive Director of the organization and former MP from Pabna-4 constituency, presided over the discussion meeting held at Charmirkamari on the occasion while, Ishwardi Upazila Social Service Officer Khandaker Masud Rana spoke as the chief guest.
Welcoming remarks were made by the Deputy Director of the organization Mostaq Ahmed Kiran. Freedom Fighter Manser Ali Khan, Qari Mohammad Mozammel Haque and others spoke as special guests in the discussion meeting. Similarly, a discussion meeting was held at Titiya Center in Lalpur too.
According to sources, the New Era Foundation has been providing a monthly allowance of Tk 500 to 100 senior citizen in Ishwardi and 100 senior citizen in Lalpur. On Tuesday, a total of 200 people were given a allowance of Tk 200,000 for two months.
