Rangpur division recorded 20.46 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 71 fresh cases were reported after testing 347 newly collected samples of all eight districts in the division on Wednesday, reports BSS.
“The Covid-19 positivity rate continues showing a declining trend in recent days in the division,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSS.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 24.03 percent on Tuesday, 22.37 percent on Monday, 25.54 percent on Sunday, 24.48 percent on Saturday, 18.84 percent on Friday and 24.78 percent on Thursday last in the division. Among the 71 new patients, 37 were reported positive after diagnosing 159 newly collected samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 23.27 percent on Wednesday.
“The 37 new patients include 18 from Rangpur, seven from Kurigram, eight from Gaibandha and four from Lalmonirhat districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 6 pm.
On the other hand, 34 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 20.46 percent on Wednesday. “The 34 new Covid-19 infected patients include 26 from Dinajpur, four from Thakurgaon and two each from Panchagarh and Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain said.
Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 49,470 as 71 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
The district-wise break up of total 49,470 patients now stands at 11,224 in Rangpur, 3,159 in Panchagarh, 4,038 in Nilphamari, 2,463 in Lalmonirhat, 4,141 in Kurigram, 6,654 in Thakurgaon, 13,528 in Dinajpur and 4,263 in Gaibandha of the division.
