Two construction workers died after inhaling toxic gas from a septic tank at chairman mor Chit kellabanda area of the Rangpur city on Friday morning.
The deceased were identified as Humayun Ahmed, 32, son of Abdul Mannan of Haridebpur area of Rangpur Sadar upazila and Liton Mia, 24, son of Shamsul Haque of Baktiarpur area of the city.
Locals said two workers died while cleaning the septic tank of the under-construction building of Enamul Haque in Chit Kellabanda area. On receiving the information, the fire service personnel reached the spot and recovered their bodies from the septic tank around 12:30 pm.
Later, the police brought the bodies to Hajirhat Police Station.
Hajirhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rajib Basunia said they died while working inside the septic tank. The bodies will be handed over to their relatives after autopsy.
