2 return home after recovering

Two patients from Sunamganj, including the district’s first coronavirus patient, has returned home in good health. The district health department gave them permission to go home on Monday afternoon.

According to the district health department, a 33-year-old woman from Chandipur village in Mannargaon union of Doarbazar upazila has been receiving treatment in isolation at the Sadar hospital for the last 14 days. The woman's husband was an expatriate from Saudi Arabia.

On April 11, the results of the woman's sample test at the Osmani Medical College laboratory in Sylhet came out positive. On April 12, a team of doctors from the district health department admitted the woman to the isolation ward of Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for treatment.

After 14 days, the health department collected two new samples from the woman and tested them at the Sylhet Osmani Medical College laboratory, but the results were negative.

Another is a young man (27) of Purangaon village in Biswambharpur upazila who escaped from Dhaka. He fled from Dhaka to Sunamganj after being infected. He also took treatment in isolation of Sadar Hospital.

He was an employee of Popular Pharmaceuticals Company in Dhaka. After being in isolation for the stipulated time, he submitted two new samples and tested them at the Sylhet Osmani Medical College Laboratory. The result was negative. They returned home completely recovered.

In this regard, the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Sunamganj Sadar Hospital Mohammad Rafiqul Islam said, “After a woman and a young man were in isolation for 14 days, they collected new samples twice and sent them to the laboratory. They are back home today in good health. We have advised them to follow the rules.”
