2 MTFE frauds held in Rajshahi

Police arrested two members of a fraudulent gang on charge of their involvement in grabbing crores of money from people in Rajshahi district on Thursday night.

Police said they were involved in the crime after trapping people through the Metaverse Foreign Exchange (MTFE) app. The arrested were identified as Dipendranath Saha, 43, son of Dijendranath Saha of Bishuhara village in Mohanpur upazila of the district and Latiful Bari Babu, 42, son of Abdur Rashid of Mohadevpur village in Naogaon district. Commissioner of Rajshahi Metro­politan Police (RMP) Biplob Bijoy Talukder revealed this in a press conference at his office conference hall in Rajshahi on Friday afternoon. He said the detained persons grabbed crores of money from scores of youths after trapping them in the MTFE App making the youths empty handed along with pushing them into miserable life.

On a tip-off, a joint team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) led by Rajpara Police Station belonging to the RMP conducted a sudden raid and nabbed them from Mohanpur upazila area in the district last night.

Quoting their confessional statement the RMP Commissioner Biplob Talukder said they were involved in the criminal offense for a long time. They also gave some important 

information in this connection which will be beneficial in the investigation, he added.
