Two more people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus or Covid-19 in Bangladesh, raising the total number of patients reported in the country to 10.
One of the new patients was earlier quarantined after returning from Italy while the other contracted the virus from a person who came from the United States, Director of Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Meerjady Sabrina Flora told the press on Tuesday.
They were receiving treatment and doing well, Flora said.
Of the total patients, three were discharged from hospitals after recovery while the others underwent treatment, she added.
Prof Flora urged people not to panic since over 80 percent of Covid-19 patients have recovered naturally.
Meanwhile, the government suggested people to maintain hygiene that includes washing hands with soap and covering cough and sneezing.
People have been asked to maintain at least 1 meter distance from a person suffering from the symptoms of fever and cough.
The government closed all educational institutions in the country till March 31 in bid to stem the spread of coronavirus.
The World Health Organisation also urged all the South-East Asia countries including Bangladesh to use aggressive measures as the number of cases is rising.
