2 KNF members killed in joint forces’ drive in Bandarban

Two members of the armed separatist group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) were killed in a drive conducted by joint forces at Saikat Para in Ruma Upazila of Bandarban district on Wednesday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Joint forces conducted a drive in the area in the morning, according to an Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR) release.

During the drive, two KNF members were killed, it said.

Some arms, ammunition and other equipment were recovered during the drive, said the ISPR release.

According to sources, so far at least 15 suspected members of the KNF were killed in different drives and 25 cases were filed on different charges against the KNF members.

Besides, in those 25 cases, at least 116 people were arrested in their connections with the KNF. Of them, 93 individuals, including 24 women, were arrested in Ruma Upazila, 10, including two women, in Thanchi, 10 were arrested in Rowangchhari upazila.

Earlier, the KNF men allegedly looted banks, arms and ammunitions in Bandarban.
