2 killed in Satkhira road crashes

Two men were killed in two separate road accidents in Shyamnagar and Kolaroa areas of Satkhira on Saturday. 

The deceased were identified as a student of eleventh grade Polash Aulia, son of Bholanath Aulia, resident of Zelekhali area under Munshiganj union of Shyamnagar of the district and a trolley driver Shawon Hossain, son of Shariful Islam, resident of Bagachra Baguri village of Jashore district.

Shyamnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) M Abul Kalam Azad said Polash was riding a motorcycle in Boyarshing village under Aturia union of Shyamnagar in the morning. A dumper tractor knocked him down in the area, leaving him injured critically. However, he succumbed to his injury while he was being taken to Shyamnagar Upazila Health Complex. Police seized the tractor but its driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. The agitated locals set the tractor ablaze. 

On the other hand, Kolaroa Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rafikul Islam said Shawon, the trolley driver, was killed as a rashly driven truck knocked his trolley when he was heading to Satkhira in Kolaora Upazila. 

However, he succumbed while he was being taken to Satkhira Medical College Hospital. Shawon’s associate was injured in the accident as well. The truck was seized although the driver of the truck fled the scene.
