Two people were killed, and at least 14 more were injured, in a head on collision between a coach bus and an oil laden truck on Dhaka-Thakurgaon highway on Thursday.
The incident occurred in front of Himadri cold storage at Jagannatpur union under the sadar upazila of Thakurgaon district at 6 in the morning.
The deceased were identified as Shahadat Ali, 35, driver of the oil laden truck, and passenger of the bus Sanaullah, 30, son of Gias Uddin, resident if Molankhuri village under the sadar upazila. He was an MPO officer at Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Sadar Hospital Dr. Rakibul Islam Chayan confirmed the matter.
It was learnt that a coach bus of Shyamoli Paribahan coming from Dhaka was entering Thakurgaon on Thursday morning. When the bus reached in front of Himadri cold storage at Jagannatpur union, which is one kilometer away from Thakurgaon town, it collided head on with an oil laden truck coming from Thakurgaon. The driver of the oil tank truck died at the spot in this incident.
Later, the locals rescued the injured and took them to Thakurgaon 250 Bed General Hospital. One of the injured, Sanaullah, died there while being under treatment. Two other injured were sent to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.
