2 Killed in Head-on Collision in Sirajganj

A truck driver and his helper were killed in a head-on collision with a bus at Ullapara Upazila in Sirajganj on Thursday morning. At least ten passengers of the bus were severely injured in this incident.

The accident took place at Harinchara area on Hatikumrul-Banpara highway on Thursday morning.

The deceased were identified as truck driver Raju Ahmed 25, a resident of Dacur village under Nandigram upazila of Bogra district and helper Hamjala Roni  22, son of Khokon Ali of Kundarhat village of the same upazila.

Akhter-uz-zaman, Officer-in-Charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station said, “A Dhaka bound bus of Shyamoli from north Bengal reached  Harinchara area in the morning.

While reaching the spot, the driver lost control and made a head-on collision with a truck coming from the opposite direction, leaving the truck driver dead on the spot”.

“On information, police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and sent them to Sirajganj sadar hospital where the truck helper Roni succumbed to death”, the OC added.  

The bus and truck were taken to police custody and a case was filed in this connection.
