Two people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Nandigram upazila of Bogura on Sunday. The accident occurred near Kundarhat on the Bogura-Natore highway.
The deceased were identified as Arafat Hossain (22), the CNG driver from Katham Dakshinpara village, and passenger Hawa Begum (45), wife of Nazrul Islam from Bisha village. The identities of the injured were not immediately known.
According to Kundarhat Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nirmal Chandra Mohanto, the CNG was heading towards Bogura from Nandigram when it tried to pass a stationary auto-rickshaw and van. A speeding covered truck from the opposite direction struck it, killing Arafat and Hawa on the spot.
The injured were taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMC), where they are undergoing treatment. Police have seized the truck and sent the bodies to the hospital morgue.
