Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion-58 arrested two persons with smuggled Indian medicines and a motor cycle from Iswachandrapur village under Darshana police station of Chuadanga on Sunday night.
The arrestees are identified as Monirul Islam, son of Kasmot Ali and Sahabuddin, son of Imam Hossain of Joynagar village under Darshana police station.
According to BGB sources, a team of BGB’s Nimtola BOP based on secret information raided the area to arrest the peddlers. BGB men intercepted the motor cycle riders coming from the border and recovered 720 pieces of Indian medicines as well as cash Tk 9,065 from their possession. Their motor cycle was also seized.
Later, the arrestees, seized goods and the motor cycle were handed over to Police. A case was filed with Darshana police station in this regard against Monirul, Sahabuddin and another person named Omor Ali, who is absconding.
