The Policemen in bordering Moheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah have arrested two drug vendors and seized 168 bottles of contraband phensedyl syrup on Monday afternoon
The contra banned items were seized in two separate drives at Jagusa village and Dhannaharia Paschimpara of the upazila, said the police sources.
Moheshpur police station officer in charge (O C) Mourshed Hossain Khan said a team of policemen led by sub inspector MA Kashem conducted drives at Jagusha village in the upazila in the afternoon of Monday and seized
60 bottles of contra banned phensedyl syrup from Moheshpur-Jadabpur road.
Later the police conducted drives in a Mehegoni garden owned by some Deen Islam of Dhannaharia Paschimpara and seized 108 bottles of the contra banned syrup.
The policemen also arrested two drug vendors Israfil, 23, son of Manu Mia of Barobari in Moheshpur upazila and Abu Bakar Siddique alias Ripon, 32, son of Anisur Rahman of Jagahati village in Jashore Kotwali thana.
The law enforcers also seized a motorbike used for carrying the contra banned by the detained drug vendors. A case was filed with Moheshpur police station in this connection, OC said.
