Police have arrested two young men with firearms in Chakaria town, Cox’s Bazar. The arrest took place on Wednesday in front of the Grammar School in the municipal area.
Chakaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Touhidul Anwar confirmed the incident on Thursday afternoon.
The detainees have been identified as Mohammad Zishan (25) from Sikdarpara in Chakaria Municipality and Mohammad Abdullah (24) from Koralkhali, Saharbil Union.
OC Anwar stated that both had outstanding arrest warrants in multiple cases. Based on complaints from locals, a patrol team arrived at the scene. Upon noticing the police, Zishan and Abdullah attempted to flee but were caught after a brief chase.
Police recovered a locally-made LG (gun) and two bullets from Zishan. A new case under the Arms Act has been filed, and the pair were presented before the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Thursday.
