Cox's Bazar district Detective Branch of Police (DB) as part as part of an operation to nab a team of counterfeit money launderer, conducted an operation at Janarghona area under Jhilanjha union of Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila on Thursday midnight.
At the time, they arrested Nurul Islam, 45, son of late Jamal Ahmed and Mohammad Ali, 37, son of late Ola Mia of Badshaghona area under Ward no 9 of Cox’s Bazar Municipality along with counterfeit notes worth of Tk 42,000.
Confirming the matter, Cox's Bazar District DB Inspector (OC) Mohammad Ali said, "We had news that that a gang of counterfeit money launderer, had been trading in counterfeit money for a long time in the district including Cox’s Bazar town. Upon receiving secret information in this regard we conducted the raid and arrested two men with a large amount of counterfeit money”.
The Detainees have been handed over to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station for taking further legal action, he added.
