DB Police of Bogura detained two drug dealers with 86 kg of marijuana from Sondabari area in Gabtali Upazila of Bogura on Wednesday. They were coming from Kurigram in a private car when they were arrested.
The detainees are Babul Hossain, resident of Kishamot Prankrishna area and Nazrul Islam, resident of Anantapur area. A private car carrying the drugs was seized at that time. Babul has two narcotics cases against him.
District Police Superintendent Snigdho Akhter said these in a press briefing on Thursday.
Police said a team of DB Police, led by Additional Police Superintendent Sharafat Islam, placed a check post at Matidhali area of the city on information that a large supply of narcotics is entering Bogura Sadar Upazila area. While searching the vehicles, they signaled a private car to stop.
But instead of stopping, the car passed through the check post and headed toward Sabgram crossroad. Police chased after them at that time. Later, when the car headed towards Gabtali from Sabgram crossroad, DB Police was able to stop it in front of the Sondabari Govt. Primary School.
Police searched their car at that time and detained them with 86 kg of marijuana. The private car was seized as well.
Police Superintendant Snigdho Akhter said case was filed against the two detainees in Gabtali Police Station. The District Police will continue their operation against narcotics, he added.
