2 Covid deaths in 24 hours

Bangladesh registered two deaths from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am Friday. The total number of deaths rose to 28,043 with the addition to the latest figure.

The country recorded 191 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,580,750, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday. 

The current positivity rate stands at 1.17 percent. The overall positivity rate stands at 14.07 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country. Around 16,310 samples were tested across the country till 8am Friday. 

Both the deceased were male and they were aged between 61 and 70, added the release.

Some 145 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,545,259 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.75 percent.

As of Friday, 5,356,131 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 273,355,372 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
