Two workers killed and another sustained serious injuries on Friday after they fell off from an under-construction building on Pabna University of Science and Technology.
The deceased were identified as Tuhin Hossain, 25, hailed from Charbasuderpur village of Chapainawabganj, and Asadul Ali, 35, came from Bigramghanti village of Godagari upazila in Rajshahi.
The injured was identified as Rabiul Awal, 30, also hailed from the same village of Chapainawabganj.
Witnesses said that workers were plastering the outside wall of under-construction12-storey Sheikh Russell hall on PUST campus. Suddenly the three dropped to the ground from the eighth floor of the building when a rope they used to hold them to a bamboo pole severed around 8:30am, leaving them critically injured.
Later, they were rushed to Pabna general hospital where one of them died from his injuries. Another worker died on the way to Rajshahai medical college hospital and the other was undergoing treatment with life-threatening injuries at RMCH.
PUST proctor Kamal Hossain confirmed the matter.
The bodies were sent to Pabna general hospital for autopsy, he said.
