Two brothers were beaten to death over a previous dispute in Bangalgachha area of Gazipur city on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Safiqul Islam, 32, and Sukkur Mia, 25, sons of Abul Kashem of Moheshkura village of Mymensingh's Nandail upazila. They lived in a rented house in Burulia area of Gazipur city.
Moniruzzaman, sub-inspector of Joydebpur Police Station under Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP), said locals spotted the bodies of the two brothers beside a road around 9:00pm and informed police.
Relatives of the deceased said the two brothers Shafiqul and Shukkur were killed last night over a money dispute in Bangalgachha area, reports UNB.
They said Shafiqul lent some money to a shop trader named Russel. A few days ago, there was a fight between the two over this issue. Yesterday evening, Russel called the two brothers to meet him. When they arrived, Russel along with other people beat them to death, added UNB.
Ziaul Islam, officer-in-charge of Gazipur Metro Sadar Police Station, said police have recovered the bodies and sent them to the hospital morgue.
"Both of them [ Shafiqul and Shukkur] were released from jail a few days ago after serving jail in a robbery case. They are believed to have been killed over a previous dispute," he added.
Police found injury marks on different parts of the victims, said the OC, adding that they are looking into the double murder.
