The detective police arrested two drug dealers named Abdur Rahim (45) and Nurul Islam (50) in a raid in Chaishani Union of Begumganj Upazila of Noakhali. During this time, 600 pieces of Yaba tablets, 62 thousand taka in cash for selling drugs, 4 mobile phones and 1 motorcycle were seized from them.
They were arrested around 9:30 am on Monday. The arrested are Abdur Rahim, son of Syed Ahmed of Taibpur village of Chikhani Union and Nurul Islam, son of Sirajul Islam of Laxmanpur village.
According to the police, as part of the operation to recover the narcotics, several teams of the district intelligence police raided different places in Begumganj from Monday morning. During the operation, Rahim and Nurul Islam, known drug dealers of the area, were arrested on the basis of secret information at around 9:30 in the morning. Drugs, cash, mobile phones were seized by searching a bag of the motorcycle with them.
Officer-in-Charge of District Intelligence Police (OC) Md. Saiful Islam said that the arrested drug dealers were also involved in various criminal activities in the area besides drug trade. Cases filed against them in multiple incidents including drugs, explosives and murder are under trial in the court. Another case has been filed against them in Begumganj Model Police Station in connection with the recovery of drugs.
