The government on Monday confirmed to record 2,928 fresh cases of coronavirus, 50 deaths and 1,914 recoveries from the Covid-19 in 24 hours.
During the period till 8am, according to additional director general for health Prof Nasima Sultana, 13,362 samples had been tested across the country.
With the update, the total cases stood at 207,453 and the death toll 2,668 since the outbreak of the disease in Bangladesh on March 8. Some 113,556 patients have made recoveries so far.
Prof Nasima said the recovery rate was 54.74 percent while the death rate was 1.28 percent.
Of the latest victims, 35 were men and 15 women. Forty-two of them have died in different hospitals and eight at their respective home.
Twenty-one of them were hailed from Dhaka, 10 from Khulna, seven from Chattogram, five from Rajshahi, three from Sylhet, and two each from Rangpur and Barishal division.
The gender-wise analysis found that of the victims’ 78.86 percent were males and 21.14 percent were females. About 75 percent were at the age above 50.
Most of the deceased were from Dhaka division - 48.91 percent – followed by Chattogram 25.22 percent, Khulna 6.48 percent, Rajshahi 5.40 percent, Sylhet 4.69 percent, Barishal 3.75 percent, Rangpur 3.37 percent and Mymensingh 2.17 percent.
Currently, 59,432 people are quarantined across the country – including 2,484 newly-quarantined individuals. Total 353,049 people have completed their quarantine course.
The authorities placed 823 new individuals suspected of having Covid-19 into isolation, bringing the total to 18,612 after 23,358 left.
So far, 1,041,661 samples have been tested for the virus in Bangladesh.
