More than 18 thousand government organisations are being brought to the internet network. This network connection will be installed by optical fiber cable. This project is being taken to balance the internet usage ratio between cities and villages.

Broadband internet connection has been provided to 2,600 union information centers. People from around the country can use the network if the government and private organisations use the same network. The ICT Division has established a major portion of the union networking system.

The other portion was conducted by two different organisations. By spreading ‘bangla gov net and info government’ the project is on its way to be completed. The government has already put 14,000 types of facilities in Big Data. People can receive many services from there.

The ICT department informed that the work to bring all the ministries, departments and non-governmental organizations of the country into one network is almost at the final stage. This project will be completed at the end of this year. Then the information discrimination between cities and villages will be balanced out. The ICT division stated that government wants to bring all the services to a single platform to reduce time and cost for better information access. More than 3,000 services will be gradually added to the network.

The ICT Division is currently working on creating 40,000 freelancers from Bangladesh in the next two years. To further develop that, this Division will build Sheikh Kamal Incubation center in 64 districts before 2022 to make students skilled in tech sectors.

‘Civic Service by Digital Automation Process' has already been started in Mymensingh city Corporation and 9 other municipalities on a test basis under the ‘Digital Municipality Services System’ project. A total of 162 government services have been added to ‘Eksheba’, a government service portal. Citizens now can receive all the information from a single portal, it assures. Government utility bills can be paid through ‘Ekpay’, entrepreneurs can sell their products through ‘Ekshop’, the ICT Division added.

Sources said almost every Upazila has been connected through bangla gov net and info government. Secretariat has got access to high-speed broadband connection. About 70,000 young people are currently being trained up to be ICT experts. 20, 000 among them have been given basic training, 10,000 of them got intense IT training and 4,500 have been selected to be the fast track future leaders.

About 2,450 people have already been trained under the ‘steel enhancement’ project. Furthermore, 26,000 people have been trained up to cope up with freelancing projects. These trained people can pass out the knowledge to others, thus a skilled IT sector will be created, the ICT Division informs.
