A joint operation of the district administration and the environment department seized 2.5 tons of polythene and sealed 2 warehouses in Chaktai of Chattogram city.
On Tuesday from 11 am to 2 pm in Chaktai area of Chattogram city, under the leadership of Executive Magistrate and AC land Chandgaon Md. Masud Rana, an anti-polythene operation harmful to the environment was conducted in cooperation with the Department of Environment.
When the mobile court team reached Chaktai area based on tip-off, the illegal polythene traders locked the warehouse and sealed. On the orders of the Magistrate, around 2,500 kg (2.5 tonnes) of polythene was seized in two warehouse after the locks were broken and handed over to the Department of Environment for destruction. Warehouses are sealed.
Environment Department Assistant Director Rubaiyat Sourav, Inspector Monir Hossain and other employees provided overall assistance in the operation. The delegation of CMP was present to follow the legal instructions to protect law and order. The district administration said that such operations will continue in the future.
