2.5 lakh children to be fed A plus capsules in Satkhira

In Satkhira, National Vitamin A Plus Campaign-2020 was officially inaugurated on Sunday at the Surjer Hashi Network Clinic, organized by the Satkhira Civil Surgeon's Office.

It is implemented by the National Nutrition Service, Public Health Nutrition Institute, Department of Health, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Satkhira DC SM Mostafa Kamal inaugurated the campaign as the chief guest under the chairmanship of Satkhira Civil Surgeon Dr. Hussain Shafayat. 

Speaking as the chief guest, the Deputy Commissioner said 2,49,857 children would be fed vitamin A plus capsules through 2,031 vaccination centers in 7 upazilas and two municipalities of the district this year. 

A total 26,513 children aged 6 to 11 months will be given blue vitamin A plus capsule and 2,23,344 children aged 12 to 59 months will be fed red high potency vitamin A capsule. 621 government health workers, 218 private health workers and 4,062 volunteers will be engaged in this programme, he added.

He also mentioned that unlike previous years this year the campaign will run for about a fortnite which will conclude on October 17, due to corona pandemic. Vaccination will be provided at each vaccination center from 8 am to 4 pm.

The medical officer of Surjer Hashi Clinic Dr. Sabera Sultana, Dr. Md. Masudur Rashid, District Health Supervisor Jagadish Chandra Haldar and Manager of Surjer Hashi Clinic Mofiqul Islam were present as special guests at the time.
