CORONAVIRUS IN BANGLADESH

2,158 new cases, 32 deaths

Bangladesh on Thursday recorded 2,158 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 32 deaths.

During the 24 hours period till 8am, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said 2,994 patients were discharged from the hospitals.

With that, the number of confirmed cases rose to 319,686, deaths 4,383 and recoveries 213,980.

Some 14,422 samples were tested at 93 authorised laboratories across Bangladesh during the time.

Bangladesh confirmed the first cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18. The WHO declared the disease pandemic on March 11.

Among the total infections, 66.93 percent patients have recovered and 1.37 percent died.

Among the latest victims, 24 were male and eight female.

Two are in their 40s, 12 in their 50s, while 18 are above 60 years.

According to the division-wise data, 15 deaths took place in Dhaka division, seven in Chattogram division, six in Rangpur division and rests are in other divisions.

Currently, 52,183 people are quarantined across the country – including 2,046 newly-quarantined individuals.

A total of 448,985 people have completed their quarantine course.

The authorities placed 698 new individuals suspected of having Covid-19 into isolation in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 19,869 after 53,296 left.
