2,000 returnees still not under home quarantine in Rajshahi

Nearly 2,000 returnees from abroad (migrants) among 3,000 who arrived Rajshahi during the last one month remained missing as members of law enforcement agencies were searching for their whereabouts to put them under home quarantine. 

Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Hamidul Haque while briefing journalists on Wednesday about Corona situation informed, in March-2020, a total of 2,959 people arrived in Rajshahi from abroad, of whom, a total of 1,037 were identified and put under home quarantine.

The Law enforcement agency members or the local administration have no idea of the whereabouts of rest 1,922 foreign returnees in the district during the same time. Law enforcement agency members and health workers were, however, working to find out their locations,  informed Hamidul Haque. 

He further said, of the foreign returnees who were under home quarantine, 589 people were released because they spent 14-days of at home. No patient attacked with Coronavirus has so far been detected in Rajshahi, he mentioned. 

Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque informed, the missing foreign returnees did not visit the places as mentioned as the permanent addresses in their passports. They might stay some other places of the country.  

He further said, the government was repeatedly asking the foreign returnees to contact local police immediately but the government could not take any measure about those who did not contact police yet but 100 percent home quarantine has been ensured for those who reached and staying in Rajshahi.
