The two-day 10th bilateral defence dialogue between Bangladesh and the United Stated of America is being held in the capital Dhaka.
Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) press release confirmed it.
The head of the USA delegation participating in the 10th defense dialogue made a courtesy call on Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Department Lt. General Walker-uz-Zaman.
The dialogue will officially end today.
In the dialogue, the Bangladesh delegation was led by Brigadier General Husain Muhammad Masihur Rahman, Director General, Directorate of Operations and Plan, Armed Forces Division and the United States delegation by Brigadier General Thomas J. James, Director of Strategic Planning and Policy, US Indo-Pacific Command.
Besides, senior officials of various organizations including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Armed Forces, Border Guard Bangladesh and Bangladesh Coast Guard were present on behalf of Bangladesh.
The aim of this dialogue is to create an opportunity for wide-ranging discussions on military cooperation between the two countries. Since independence, the foundation of cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States is strong, said ISPR handout on Wednesday said.
Our relationship is multi-dimensional, multi-faceted and ever-evolving. The continued support of the United States for defense development and training assistance to the Bangladesh Armed Forces is evident, the ISPR press release read.
Every year many members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces are trained in various institutions of the United States. The members of the United States Armed Forces also undergo various trainings in Bangladesh. The armed forces of the two countries have been working together in UN peacekeeping missions and counter-terrorism operations. Exchange of military visits by senior officers between the two countries is another feature of military cooperation.
In this dialogue, our defense and military cooperation in the field of international and natural security, technology, defense equipment, disaster response, peacekeeping operations etc. and defense cooperation in the field of training, training, inspections, joint exercises and deployments and workshops will be continued, ISPR continued.
The 9th Defence Dialogue between Bangladesh and the United Stated of America was held in USA in 2022. The Bilateral Defence Dialogue (BDD) between Bangladesh and US started with a joint declaration on the 1st BD-USA Security Dialogue in 2012.
Since then, every year, the BDD takes place alternately in Bangladesh and USA.
