19 more trains to run from tomorrow

Bangladesh Railway has decided to operate nine intercity and 10 of mail express and commuter trains from Wednesday.

The information was given in a circular signed by Deputy Director of Railways Rezaul Haque on Sunday. The decision has been confirmed to Bangladesh Post by Bangladesh Railway’s Additional Director General of Operations, Sardar Shahadat Ali.

In the meantime, the temporarily suspended train service of Banglabandha Express in Rajshahi route is going to be resumed again.

The new intercity trains will be Kurigram Express (Kurigram-Dhaka-Kurigram), Panchagarh Express (Dhaka-Panchagarh-Dhaka), Simanta Express (Khulna-Chilahati-Khulna), Barindra Express (Rajshahi-Chilahati-Rajshahi)Banglabanda Express(Rajshahi-Panchagarh-Rajshahi), Shonar Bangla Express (Dhaka-Chattagram-Dhaka), Jayantika Express (Dhaka-Sylhet), Upban Express (Sylhet-Dhaka), Agniveena Express (Dhaka-Tarakandi-Dhaka), Paharika Express(Sylhet-Chattagram) and Udayan Express (Chattagram-Sylhet).

New Mail Express and Commuter Trains consist of Dhaka Mail (Chattagram-Dhaka), Surma Mail (Dhaka-Sylhet-Dhaka), Dewanganj Commuter (Dhaka-Dewanganj-Dhaka), Mahua Commuter (Dhaka-Mohanganj-Dhaka), Titas (Dhaka-Akhaura-Dhaka), Mymensingh Express (Chattagram-Bangabandhu Bridge East-Chattagram), Birol Commuter (Lalmonirhat-Biral-Lalmonirhat), Bogra Commuter (Santahar-Lalmonirhat-Santahar), 491/492 Local (Bonarpara-Shantahar- Bonarpara) and Rajbari Express (Rajbari-Bhanga-Rajbari). 

Due to the rapid transmission of the Covid-19 virus, all passenger trains of Bangladesh Railway were closed from April 5 to May 23, as per the instructions of government.

The government issued instructions to operate public transport with half of the existing number of passengers from May 24. Following the decision, the train service resumed again.
