Bangladesh registered 187 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Sunday, taking the total number of death to 24,175.
The country recorded 6,684 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,418,902, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday.
The death rate now stands at 1.70 percent in the country, added the release. The current positivity rate stands at 20.25 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.87 percent.
Among the 187 deceased, 101 were men, and 86 were women. Of the victims, 183 died in different hospitals across the country, three died at home and one died on the way to hospital.
71 of the deceased were from Dhaka division, 39 from Chattogram, 21 from Khulna, 13 each from Sylhet and Rangpur, 12 from Rajshahi, 10 from Mymensigh and eight were from Barisal.
A total of 33,001 samples were tested across the country till 8am Sunday.
During this period 11,371 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,292,698 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 91.11 percent.
As of Sunday, 4,371,328 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 207,710,244 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
