18 unsuccessful students get ‘A +’ after re-scrutiny

18 students who failed in several subjects in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations-2021 under Rajshahi Education Board, received 'A+' after re-scrutinizing of their answer scripts. The results of re-scrutinised answer scripts under REB were published on Friday.  

REB sources informed, this year the results of 120 subjects of 116 examinees have been changed after re-scrutinizing their answer scripts. Of them, 79 unsuccessful examinees came out successful. Out of these 79 unsuccessful examinees, results of 18 students were declared unsuccessful in several subjects but after scrutiny of the answer scripts, they scored 'A+' while 22 students received higher grades from the 'A' grade, 12 received higher grades from 'A-' and 7 scored higher grade from 'B' grade. 

REB sources further informed, a total of 8,387 examinees applied to scrutiny of their 9,443 answer scripts of SSC examinations. Of those, 3,477 answer scripts for scrutiny of Physics subjects, 1,281 for Geography and Environmental Science, 318 for higher Mathematics, 2,170 for Chemistry, 577 for Biology, 102 for Civics, 67 for Economics, 60 for Business, 355 for Accounting, 379 for Finance and Banking and 648 for History of Bangladesh and World Civilization. After re-scrutiny of those answer scripts, results of 120 subjects of 116 examinees have been changed.  

Ariful Islam, Controller of Examinations of Rajshahi Education Board informed, the erroneous result was due to mistake in adding the numbers or due to erroneous entry of numbers in the computer. The errors were, however, corrected after the re-scrutiny. He further informed, each student is required to pay a fees of Tk 120 for re-scrutiny of each subject.
