In Noakhali, there have been 18 cases of vandalism, looting and arson of Hindu temples, puja mandals, houses and businesses filed till Monday morning.
In these cases, names of 275 people have been mentioned and another total of 5,000 people have been made accused. So far 90 people have been arrested in these cases.
The plaintiffs in 10 of these cases are the police, 8 plaintiffs are members of the Puja-Mandap committee , 1 plaintiff is the owner of a Puja Mandap house and 1 plaintiff is the principal of the Iskcon Temple in Begumganj.
District Superintendent of Police Md Shahidul Islam said that on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Hindu temples, Puja Mandaps, houses and businesses owned by people of Hindu community were attacked, vandalized, looted and set on fire in different areas of Noakhali district. One case has been registered in the Senbagar incident.
