18 Bangladeshis held on Moheshpur border

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in Moheshpur border of Jheniadah have detained an Indian woman while she entered Bangladesh territory and 18 Bangladeshi nationals when they were tryingtocross the bordering area illegally.

They were handed over to bordering Moheshpur police station after filing cases, said the border guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources.

BGB-58 battalion additional director Mehedi Hasan Khan quoting the battalion director Qamrul Ahsan said the border guards detained Kalidashi Mandal, 50, wife of Pulin Mandal of Gaurajnagar village under Newtown of Kolkata neat 500 yards inside the Bangladeshi border at Solemanpur under Moheshpur upazila on the morning of Thursday.

The detainee could not produce any valid paper favouring her travel to Bangladesh. They (BGB) filed a case with Moheshpur police station in this connection and handed over the detained woman to police, BGB sources said.

BGB sources further said they had detained 18 Bangladeshi national while they were trying to cross the Bangladeshi border illegally.

BGB 58 battalion additional director identified the 18 as Hanif Farazi 45, son of Taijuddin Farazi, Hanif’s son Ali Hossain of Gabatali village of Morelganj upazila in Bagerhat, Paritosh Kumar 30, son of Prafulla Kumar of Lakurtala village in Sharankhola, Mijan Hawlader 40, son of Elias Hawlader of Char Hogolbunia, Imran Hossain 20, son of Imam Hossain of village Rayenda, Reshma Khatun 35, wife of Ohidulof Barbadura, Munni Khatun 25, wife of Abu Bakar Rubel,Khalilur Rahman, son of Abdu Rashid of Dubbazer village, Pakhi Khatun, 35, wife of Safiqul Islam, Rashida Khatun, 50, daughter of Nesar Uddin  of Deshabunia in Pirojpur, Islam Uddin, 30, son of Fazal of Boroni village in Abhainagar upazila in Jashore, Naim, 18, son of Enayat of Koroitala village in Pathaghata of Barguna, Alamin Hawlader, 35, son of Satter Hawlader of Ashi Eagle village in Bagerhat, Munni Khatun, wife of Mijanur Rahman of Shyamnagar and Salma Khatun of Ramda village under Satkhira.

BGB battalion additional director said the detained 18 could not produce any paper following their destination for neighboring India. As they were attempting cross the border illegally, were handed over to Moheshpur police station after filing case with the same police station.
