A total of 17 new corona patients have been identified in Lakshmipur, said Civil Surgeon Abdul Gaffar on Friday.  Of them, 13 were identified in Ramganj upazila, 3 in Kamlnagar upazila and for the first time a corona patient was identified in Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.

In total 19 corona patients including 2 previous ones have been identified in the district so far. Meanwhile, the test reports of 12 parson dying with corona symptoms, have been received and none of them were corona positive.

A physician (RMO), a technician and two lab sample collectors coming in contact with a corona patient have been kept in isolation in separate rooms at their homes. All 19 patients are being treated in home quarantine including the patient identified in Tumchar area of ward no 5 under Lakshmipur municipal area.

Meanwhile, the civil surgeon said no symptoms were found in the newly identified 17 patients, they all came in contact with the previously identified patients. With a maximum of 17 patients being detected in a single day, a panicking situation is prevailing among the common people in the area.

None the less, crowds of people has been noticed in different market areas. But the efforts of the army, the police and the local market committee in the area continue to persuade people. To prevent corona infection, shops, especially grocery or commodity markets, are closed at 4pm.

Moreover, due to the long lockdown, the sufferings of middle class people has multiplied. Although relief has been provided to the underprivileged and poor people, many people have complained that they have not yet received any relief.

However, these relief materials are far less than needed. Army, police and law enforcement agencies are working hard to prevent corona infection.
