165 firefighters infected with Covid-19, 84 have recovered

A total of 165 fire service and civil defence members were infected with coronavirus. Of the victims, 84 recovered and returned to their workplaces. The remaining nine have been placed in the home quarantine and 75 in the institutional quarantine.

Officer-in-Charge (Media Cell) of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Md Shahjahan Sikder has confirmed the matter on Tuesday. 

Among the infected, 21 were from Siddique Bazar Fire Station, 19 from Tejgaon Fire Station, 30 from different branches of the department, 9 from Sadarghat Fire Station, 12 from Hazaribagh Fire Station, 8 from Dhaka Central Control Room and 12 from DEPZ Fire Station (Savar), 8 from Savar Fire Station, 1 from Lalbagh Fire Station, 1 from Mohammadpur Fire Station, 2 from Manikganj Fire Station, 3 from Demra Fire Station, 4 from Khilgaon Fire Station.

Besides, 6 are from Munshiganj Fire Station, 1 from Palashi Fire Station, 5 from Sylhet Fire Station, 1 from Baralekha and 1 from Kulaura Fire Station (Sylhet), 1 from Keraniganj Fire Station, 1 from Tongi Fire Station, 5 from Phulpur Fire Station, 1 from Tangail Fire Station, 1 from Salta Fire Station (Faridpur), 1 from Rangpur Control Room, 1 from Syedpur Fire Station (Nilphamari), 3 from Baridhara Fire Station, 2 from Postagola Fire Station and 4 from Chattogram’s Lama Fire Station.

The victims have been kept in quarantine at various places including Purbachal Multipurpose Fire Service Center and Yusufganj School in Rupganj (Narayanganj). 

Shahjahan Sikder further said, corona sufferers are all well. Of these, 84 have been declared healthy as they were tested negative twice in a row. Others are being closely monitored and if their health does not improve or deteriorate, they will be kept in isolation or hospitalised if necessary.
