16 fined for defying strict lockdown rules in Cumilla

Separate mobile courts of the Debidwar upazila administration in Cumillaon Saturday fined 16 people, including institutions and transports, Taka 8,700 in different areas for breaching the ongoing countrywide strict lockdown rules to prevent coronavirus infection.

According to the upazila administration sources, separate teams conducted the raids in different areas of the upazila, including Barera, VirallaPannarpul, Marichakanda areas and other roads, and fined 16 people including institutions and transports Taka 8,700 for violating the rules of the ongoing countrywide strict lockdown and moving outside without any reason.

Executive Magistrate of the mobile court and assistant commissioner (Land) of the upazila Mohammad GiasUddin led the operation teams from 7am to 11am on Saturday.

The executive magistrate said that the government has imposed a strict lockdown across the country to prevent coronavirus infection.

We are working in the field since morning, taking legal action against those who disobeyed government laws without urgency, leaving the house without any reason and driving transports and keeping shops and businesses establishments open, he said.

"We will continue this drive during the lockdown period," he added.
