Forest Department officials in a drive recovered 15 kg venison from a boat in the Parshu River at Chila Bazar near the Sundarbans in Bagerhat’s Mongla upazila on Saturday.
A deer head and four legs were also recovered during the drive. Azad Kabir, in-charge of Karamjal Wildlife Breeding Centre in the Chandpai Range of the Eastern Sundarbans, led the drive.
Officials also seized the boat that was used to poach the venison. Citing no arrest was made Azad said forest guards, however, managed to identify the poachers.
A case would be lodged under the forest act in this connection, he added.
