15 cultural orgs demand stern action against arsonists

A total of 15 cultural organisations have demanded exemplary punishments for the arsonists who killed passengers by setting fire on the Benapole Express train on Friday night. 

They came up with the statement signed by Sommilito Sangskritik Jote general secretary Md Ahkam Ullah on Saturday.

The organisations asked the government to bring them immediately under stern action after identifying the involved criminals by investigation.

They also urged the people of the country to build a united resistance against those who want to destroy democracy and constitutional regularities by creating anarchy in the name of hartal-blockade to obstruct polls.

The respective organisations are: SommilitoSangskritikJote, Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation, Jatiya Kabita Parishad, Bangladesh Abritti Samannay Parishad, Bangladesh Potho Natok Parisod, Bangladesh Ganasangeet Samannay Parishad, Bangladesh Nritta Shilpi Shangstha, Bangladesh Charushilpi Sangsad, Bangladesh Songit Songothon Somonnoy Parishad, Bangladesh Jatra Shilpo Unnayan Parishad, International Theatre Institute (ITI) Bangladesh, Ovinoy Shilpi Songho, Bangladesh Graam Theatre, Bangladesh Shishu Songothon Oikyajote, and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote.

They expressed deep concerns and condemnations of the incident of killing people by the arson attack on the Dhaka-bound train
