15 completes 14-day home quarantine in Thakurgaon

Thakurgaon district administration has directed 10 more foreign returnees to remain in home quarantine to prevent corona virus infection. With this the number of people staying in home quarantine stood at 178. 

Besides, 15 people were released from home quarantine on Friday. However, nocorona virus infected person has been identified in the district till now. Additional Deputy Commissioner Noor Qutubul Alam confirmed the information on Friday morning.

Red flags have been hoisted at the homes of foreign expatriates staying in home quarantine. The army and police, headed by the district administration, are monitoring whether people are following the instructions and raising awareness about maintaining social distance.

A list of 1,403 people returned from 26 countries, including Italy, China, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Dubai, India and Singapore has been published. The administration also directed the village police, UP chairman, councilors and municipal councilors in each union to monitor the movements of foreign returnees.

Meanwhile, a temporary isolation centre with 15 bed has been set up at the Govt Technical School and College under Thakurgaon Civil Surgeon in the fight against the corona virus. But, a anxiousness has been created regarding  who will serve in the centre. Adequate protective equipment has been demanded by an association of doctors.  

Dr Nadirul Islam Chapal, Superviser of Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital, said that doctors and nurses need at least 200 PPE daily for operating the isolation ward but, there are not enough in the store. He further said that emergency letters have been given to the department for 3 thousand more PPE's for doctors and nurses.
