Bangladesh registered 132 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Friday, taking the death toll to 14,778.
With this, the country recorded over 100 single-day deaths for six days in a row.
8,483 people contracted the virus in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 930,042 according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday.
The death rate now stands at 1.59 percent in the country, added the release.
The number of fatalities has declined and newly infected has increased compared to a day earlier. The country recorded 143 deaths and 8,301 infections on Thursday.
The current positivity rate stands at 28.27 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 13.94 percent.
Among the 132 deceased, 81 were men, and 51 were women. Of the victims, 119 died in different hospitals across the country while 13 died at home.
35 of the deceased were from the Khulna division, 30 from Dhaka, 24 each from Chattogram and Rajshahi, nine from Rangpur, six from Mymensingh and two each from Barisal and Sylhet division.
A total of 30,012 samples were tested across the country till 8am Friday.
During this period 4,509 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 825,422 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 88.75 percent.
As of Friday, 3,973,554 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 183,523,823 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
Covid-19 deaths have been on an upward trend in the last few days, especially in the border districts.
